The Requirement – Background
The Board of Trustees at James Cook High School wish to deliver 4 projects which form part of the school 10YPP.
These projects are as mentioned below.
• Project 1 – Block A, E, F, H DQLS Upgrade
• Project 2 – Block D, E Toilet Refurbishment
• Project 3 – Block D, P, Q, SA Lighting and Heating Upgrade
• Project 4 – Block G, E, O, SE Roofing Replacement
Project consultants are:
Project Manager: Tymen Tolsma, Maynard Marks
The Contract Works required for each project are:
Project 1 – Block A, E, F, H DQLS Upgrade
– Classroom, Resource Room, Office and Hallway / corridor refurbishment
-Remove radiators and redundant pipe work, cap-off pipework at the face of
wall/ceiling.
-Paint walls, trims, and doors (walls only where no pinboard, or other lining specified),
Trims include dado strip, skirting, scotia, architraves, window and door reveals.
-New Vertiface, lining below dado trim,
-New Vertiface, lining over existing pinboards above dado trim,
-New carpet tiles,
-Replace existing lighting with new LED fittings,
Project 2 – Block D, E Toilet Refurbishment
– Remove existing:
-WC pans (2),
-Wash hand basins (2),
-Cubicle partitions (2),
-Vinyl and associated trims,
-Lighting and light switch cover plates
– Install new:
-WC pans (4),
-Cubicle partitions (4),
-Wash hand basins (3),
-LED lighting and light switch cover plates
– Prepare and re-paint walls, ceiling, trims and doors
Project 3 – Block D, P, Q, SA Lighting and Heating Upgrade
– Replace existing lighting with new LED fittings,
– Remove radiators and redundant pipe work, cap-off pipework at the face of
wall/ceiling.
– Install common controlled split-system heat pumps (Block E classrooms only).
Project 4 – Block G, E, O, SE Roofing Replacement
– Assess flashings and spouting, clean and clear gutters as applicable, and remove
deficient items (if any),
– Remove isolated rust spots / staining as applicable,
– Check for, and repair cracked ribs (if any),
– Clean and prepare roofing for re-coating,
– Apply Kiwiseal Pro to roof areas,
– Install new flashings and spouting (if necessary)
