This project at Sunnynook Primary School entailed the refurbishment and upgrade of Classrooms 21 and 22 to enhance functionality, comfort, and learning outcomes. The scope included comprehensive internal improvements and the creation of a new, purpose-built outdoor learning environment.
Internal Improvements:
- Replacement of existing wall linings.
- Installation of acoustic ceiling tiles to improve sound quality.
- Addition of new large sliding doors to provide flexibility and improved connectivity between Rooms 21 and 22.
- Removal of existing wall heaters to allow for a more efficient and modern heating solution.
- Inspection of building fabric to assess framing integrity and insulation performance, with new insulation installed where necessary.
- Installation of a new LED lighting system throughout to improve energy efficiency and illumination quality.
- Upgraded electrical switchboard to support the new installations and ensure compliance with current standards.
External Works:
- Construction of a new covered outdoor learning area between Classrooms 21 and 22.
- New decking and stepped seating to serve as informal learning or gathering spaces.
- Roofed structure to provide weather protection and extend the usable teaching area year-round.
